El niño con el pijama de rayas

Para este proyecto se pedía la realización de una portada para el libro «El niño con el pijama de rayas». La técnica escogida fue la serigrafía, haciendo uso de negativos impresos (fotolitos).

El concepto: Quería representar que el cruce de los dos niños protagonistas da lugar a un final amargo, representándolo con un estilo poco definido, en manchas y colores alegres como si hubiera sido hecho por los mismos niños pero aún así expresando esa nostalgia o esa atmósfera tétrica y triste de la historia.

El proceso: Primero realicé el diseño en el programa Photoshop, separando cada uno de los colores en capas distintas (cada uno sería un fotolito). A continuación imprimí las capas por separado, y a partir de aquí el proceso fue todo manual en el taller de serigrafía. Cada capa de mi dibujo fue insolada en la pantalla, fue cubierta de tinta y pasada al papel con ayuda de la racleta.

El resultado final quedaría implementado de esta manera en la portada del libro.

This project called for the creation of a cover for the book «El niño con el pijama de rayas» (The boy in striped pyjamas). The technique chosen was screen printing, using printed negatives (photolithographs).

The concept: I wanted to represent that the crossing of the two main children leads to a bitter end, representing it with a poorly defined style, in spots and cheerful colours as if it had been done by the children themselves but still expressing that nostalgia or that gloomy and sad atmosphere of the story.

The process: First I made the design in Photoshop, separating each of the colours in different layers (each one would be a photolithograph). Then I printed the layers separately, and from here the process was all manual in the silkscreen workshop. Each layer of my drawing was then heat-brushed on the screen, covered with ink and transferred to paper with the help of the squeegee.

The final result would be implemented in this way on the cover of the book.
